Fire Department

The City of Plattsburgh is protected by a Career Fire Department presently comprised of 36 Members, the Fire Chief, and an Administrative Clerk. The Department provides Fire, Rescue, and Ambulance protection 24/7, 365 days a year. The Department operates out of two stations. The main station is located at 65 Cornelia Street and houses the Administrative offices, along with an engine company and the ambulance. The Ladder tower is also housed at Station 1. A second station is located across the Saranac River on South Platt Street and is staffed by 3 firefighters comprising an Engine Company. In the course of a year the Department responds to about 3000 emergency calls for assistance. The City Department also operates as part of the Hazardous Materials response team for Clinton County.
