The City of Plattsburgh has a long standing tradition of facilitating recreational opportunities for residents of the city and of surrounding communities. The Recreation Department manages and maintains the Municipal Beach, the Crete Memorial Civic Center, the City Recreation Center, as well as seventeen parks and open spaces throughout the city.

Crete Memorial Civic Center
The Crete Memorial Civic Center is a 23,000 square foot multi-use facility. Trade shows, community events, sporting events and live entertainment events are often held. During the fall, winter, and spring months, the City’s Indoor Soccer program is in full swing on the top-of-the-line turf floor. The Crete hosts hundreds of teams every year with thousands of local residents using the facility every week.
City Recreation Center
The City Recreation Center, also known as the Old Base Gym, is located at 52 US Oval. Day-use and long term members enjoy basketball, volleyball, free weights, Nautilus, cardio equipment, and an elevated indoor track. Locker rooms, showers, and saunas are provided as well. There are rooms for personal use such as birthday parties, baby showers, meetings etc. To request a room please submit the following application to the Recreation Department, Facility Use Request Form.

In addition to the facilities and parks, the Recreation Department also provides organized leagues for residents and non-residents of all ages, including: indoor soccer, outdoor soccer, whiffleball, dodgeball, and basketball. New leagues are being added all the time, so check back often for updates! We now provide a year-round outlet to the golf community as the area's only indoor driving range located at the City Recreation Center, 52 US Oval.
