The Planning Board is a 5-member board plus alternate members appointed by the Mayor. New York State General City Law gives authority to the City Common Council to appoint a Planning Board. Each member serves a 7-year term, with one member’s term expiring at the end of every calendar year. There is no term limit for Planning Board members.
The Planning Board reviews Site Plans, Historic Site Plans and Subdivisions for code compliance and gives final approvals. The Board reviews all current and proposed ordinances and amendments pertaining to Subdivisions, Site Plans and Historic Site Plan Reviews. The Board reviews zoning requests and makes recommendations to the Council for final adoption. The Board makes reports and recommendations relating to the Master Plan and development of the City of Plattsburgh.
